Between 1911 and 1913, when the
members of Brücke had already moved to Berlin,
subjects inspired by the large city, like urban
views, street scenes, images of bars, brothels
etc., were gradually included in their oeuvre.
The perception and representation of these new
topics display a new expressive tension and create
uneasy and irritating visions of modern reality.
The rebel look shows an useless estrangement of
life in these new subjects.
