This theme can be related to a quintessentially
modern concept: the enclosed, indoor setting as a refuge
from the turmoil of the modern city. This section of the
exhibition is divided into three different rooms. The
first is devoted to work by Bellows, Derain, Casorati
and Vallotton; the second establishes a dialogue between
interiors by Pirandello and Solana; while the third focuses
on the enigmatic compositions with figures by Hopper,
Balthus and Pène du Bois. |
