The first room of the second part of the exhibition begins in 1953 and presents paintings with Italianizing features. Already in this very early period, the subject of the couple (which would later be so central) makes its appearance in a series of double portraits of grandparents, parents, etc. A corner of the second room is devoted to the presence of Mari, the artist’s wife.
