TAKING THE PAINTING DOWN PROCESS
Due to the extremely large size of the painting and the considerable additional weight of the frame, a team of eight people were employed to take it off the wall from its usual place of display in the Museum. The team made use of scaffolding and a crane when moving the work. Once on the floor, the frame was removed, wrapped and stored and the painting itself was wrapped and moved to an area of the Museum where preliminary studies prior to restoration were undertaken.
