El estudio de materiales de la obra tiene como objetivo conocer la composición de los materiales originales presentes en la pintura, así como su distribución en los diferentes estratos.
La información obtenida sirve de base para comprender la técnica pictórica empleada por el artista, y ha sido un apoyo significativo para explicar las diversas transformaciones realizadas durante la ejecución.
Las secciones transversales de las micromuestras estudiadas permiten observar los componentes de las pinturas desde una perspectiva que no es posible sin el uso de un equipamiento adecuado en el laboratorio de análisis. En cada una de esas micromuestras está presente el testimonio cierto de los materiales utilizados por Ghirlandaio en esta obra.
Description
The materials analysis was carried out to determine the composition of the original materials used in the painting and how they are distributed in the various layers.
The information obtained from this analysis is useful for understanding the pictorial technique that the artist used and has helped to explain the different transformations that were effected during its execution.
The cross-sections of the micro-samples analysed reveal the components of the paints from a perspective that would be impossible outside a properly equipped analysis laboratory. Each of the micro-samples contains true and reliable evidence of the materials Ghirlandaio used in this work.
