Painting in a modern World. Social Issues in Sorolla

In contrast to Sargent’s preciousness, Sorolla, who was seven years younger, did not find his own artistic identity until well into the 1890s. In addition he opted for the genre of social critique, executing large-format paintings which brought him his first national and international success.
